I cannot believe there is no thread about BC2 guys n gals!
This game is going to ROck the Freagging Boat ::hb:: ::hb:: http://www.gametrailers.com/game/battlefield-bad-company-2/10837

It is very much like BF2 - which I'm playing as my FPS of choice atm - and will have dedicated servers (in your face MW2). The Beta is going to be out on the 25th of this month, but I'm not sure if it is going to be an open one or not.

http://www.eurogamer.net/game/battlefield-bad-company-2-pc
Some info about the game behind the link above ;)
Maybe a new game to get some UKS/UCS ppl involved in again, could be fun. The full game is going to be out early March, so not too long to wait anymore; and my hopes are higher for this one than they are for BRINK.

So long

The Beta for the game is out and I've pre-ordered it on steam (the full version you pu$$ies  not the beta). It's 50USD atm and I don't think it will get any cheaper (wink @ Borderlands) any time soon.

The reason for pre-ordering it is the fact that only then you can play the beta version till the full release on the 5th of March :D
Will let you know how things are going, starting with the game tonight ::hb:: ::hb::

Cheers
W

Well, first impressions are good. I've been playing for about 3 hours tonight and the game is feeling a bit like ET:QW, much faster than BF2 and less like a military simulation (ARMA II).
Squads are present and one can spawn on any squad member, not just the squad leader anymore. There are less classes to choose from, 4 in total, but they still do all the necessary tasks such as revive and ammo giving.

Engineers fire rocket launchers and repair, Snipers do their task and can blow up things, Assault and Medic do what they are supposed to do, kick ass and revive respectively; overall it feels like a very good game with some teething problems, such as the game crashing on a 30min bases or no server browser available for the best part of the evening (till "EA" reset all of the servers), impossible to add friends and some more minor issues ;)

Well, that's it for tonight, "DICE and EA are working hard" to get some of the problems fixed, a mate of mine and I had some really good gaming tonight with BC2, should be an exciting game :D

Cheers
Wonko

Hi folks,
I've been playing this game for about 20h+ now and I am quite excited about it. Yes there are weapon unlocks and an XP system but the freaking frenzy of the Battlefield is just awesome :D

Blow up, back stab, snipe, revive, gun down, mine, RPG, resupply, spot , mortar, tank rush and destructible environment are all brilliant.
Here is a link to a review of the Beta in RPS, and I think it really sums up the game nicely
Battlefield - Bad Company 2

Enjoy

Yes, there is an almost laughable amount of different ways someone else can kill you with little to no chance on your part to counter them, but the flipside of that is that you’re also a person, and so you can do just as many dickish things to them. And we all know that being a dick is superfun.

This makes it sound like a dream game for lamers imo.

yeah but you end up with 10 point in the end; when playing it can be quite frustrating if your squad has no idea what to do; but aggressiveness does get rewarded :D Shitloads of kills and a lot of fun, it is really a lot about your team and how they work.
The "amount of different ways someone can kill you comes from the myriad of covers and different approaches you can have to an objective, really good fun (albeit, as I mentioned earlier, it can get frustrating if you get killed all the time and you try to tell your team mates what to do)

good game though

funny how years ago u said bf2 was not anyones game, coz it wasnt ut99, now there is clammor for its succesor. MW2 is a good game, despite the non dedi servers, u can do more than u think in private game mode and TS3. BC2 is going to rock out with its cock out, jam out with its clam out etc! but is there going to be many playing it from here?

I am

Wonko is

Saphy i think

Pizza r u ?

Probably not. I used to play BF2 and BF2142 on a regular basis when those games were new, but I dont think I will play this one. There were too many things in those games that annoyed me, and since this is also a BF game, I suspect many of them are still there (randomised aim system, lots of opportunities for whoring, etc).

It is a different game to BF2. I've just played it this morning before work/uni and it is awesome! I was really considering to stay at home and play it all day, server issues made me go to uni though; hopefully they are sorted out by tonight!

You should give it a go Pizza mate, it is the game that ET:QW should have been, great graphics, squads of 4 (and you can spawn on any member who is still alive), fast and fun to play, easy vehicle control (but not too easy) great open maps and the standard Domination, TDM, Assault game modes. Oh, the sound of the game is awesome and re-spawn times are around 10s or less.

Wonko out

This is so typical EA..

Quote:
Buy Battlefield Bad Company 2
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Limited Edition is only available until March 16th at 12:01 AM PST. It includes 6 unlocks and instants beta access that ends February 25th!

Quote:
Limited Edition

Improved Vehicle Armor: An up-armor package is mounted on all vehicle types, decreasing the effect of both explosive and penetrating warheads, significantly improving vehicle survivability.

Supreme Vehicle Firepower: Additional weapon packages are mounted for the driver of all armored vehicles, greatly expanding the range of targets the vehicle can successfully engage and destroy.

Vehicle Motion Sensor: Use this electronics warfare package to locate enemy units in direct proximity to the vehicle.

Tracer Dart Pistol: This magnetic dart attaches to any vehicle surface, allowing squad members to track, lock on, and fire rockets onto moving targets even beyond line of sight.

M1A1 Sub-machine Gun: Reliable but heavy this classic weapon is a powerful force in the hands of any Battlefield veteran.

M1911 Pistol: Highly customized M1911 are favoured for its dependability and the power of its large .45 caliber round.

They have done the same thing before.. you could buy expansion packs, and then use the weapons from the expansion packs on servers running the stock version of the game. In other words; if you are willing to pay, you get the upper hand on your opponents.

You still have to unlock them though, and until recently the "special edition" was 50 USD (compared to the 90 for MW2)
But I do agree with you on that one, it is lame ;)
